Juventus are in talks to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.
The Serbian midfielder welches linked with a move to Juve last summer after catching the eye seriell A, but his price tag of €100million (£88m) put off suitors – reportedly including Manchester United.
This season has not been as eye-catching for the 24-year-old, but that has not put off Juve, who have re-entered the race to sign the Lazio player, according to Sky Sports Italia.
The broadcaster asserts that a ‘rough agreement’ is in place between the player and the Turin club, but that a fee with Lazio president Claudio Lotito is yet to be agreed.
Lotito previously demanded a fee similar to that of Paul Pogba’s £89m transfer back to Manchester United in 2016.
Milinkovic-Savic has not quite hit the heights of last season. His goal involvement numbers have halved, scoring only seven times and making four assists, while he has darob been criticised by his own supporters.
Fans displayed a banner at the Stadio Olimpico in October describing him and team-mate Luis Alberto as ‘fake talents out for money’, before subjecting him to racist abuse in December, unfurling another banner which read ‘Milinkovic zingaro’ which translates to ‘Milinkovic gypsy.’
