The New Year is quickly approaching and we'll bet that one of your New Year’s resolutions is going to be to get healthy or go to the gym - are we right?!?! We make the same New Year’s resolution every year. We have good intentions of keeping it. But, life gets in the way and those cookies in the cupboard start calling our name. Well, now you don’t have to wait for January 1st to start improving your health! Here are three easy things you can do to improve your health right now:

1. Start Walking

What are you doing right now?!? Sitting at your computer? Binge watching Netflix? It’s time to get up and head out for a walk. Walking is a great way to start improving your health. It will help improve your heart health, it boosts Vitamin D and can help you lose weight. Pop your ear buds in, throw on your on your favorite tunes and head out for a 30 minute walk. Make it part of your daily routine and you will find that you have more energy!

2. Hydrate

Everyone knows that they should be drinking eight glasses of water a day - but how many of us actually do it? Did you know that your body confuses dehydration for hunger? So, next time you are craving a mid-day snack, reach for a glass of water instead. Drinking water will help to energize your muscles, keep your skin looking amazing and it’s good for the health of your kidneys.

3. Get More Sleep

Life is busy and sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. But, your body needs a full eight hours of sleep each night. Sure, you can run on three or four hours. But, your body needs that time to recharge. Plus staying up later results in the binge of junk food eating. Make an effort to head to bed at the same time every night Try to leave your phones or laptops in a different room to eliminate distractions

There are many things you can do to improve your overall health that don’t involve hours at the gym or crazy crash diets. Improving your health is a simple as drinking more water, getting eight hours of rest and heading out for a walk. These are changes you can start making today!
