Over the past three years, Matt Besler has been one busy guy.
He helped Sporting Kansas City win the MLS Cup. He was voted into multiple All Star games. He was a crucial member of the U.S. Men's National soccer team.
In the midst of all of that, he married the love of his life and they're preparing to start the biggest adventure of their lives!
sheKC caught up with his 'All Star' wife, Amanda, recently:
You and Matt have known each other for a long time. How has he changed since the first time you met him?
We first met through soccer and ran around with the same group of high school friends. I was a freshman at Olathe East and Matt was a junior at Blue Valley West. We were friends for a long time before we started dating and eventually got married, which gave us a great foundation for our relationship.
Through the years, Matt has obviously gotten older and more mature, but deep down he's the same. He is still very ambitious, likes to joke around and strives to be the best version of himself in everything he pursues.
What is your favorite thing about Matt?
His humor! He always keeps me on my toes and has me laughing! Sometimes, I think I have him figured out and then he'll surprise me out of nowhere with a joke or a prank! It's gotten him in trouble a few times - ha ha!
What's something that might surprise people about him?
He likes working in the yard. One of his most prized possessions is his new riding mower! He says working in the yard is relaxing and a nice change of pace from the soccer world. I'm not complaining.
You've traveled all over the world watching Matt play soccer -- favorite place you've been?
London. It's my favorite city in the world. I studied abroad there in college and fell in love! I was able to watch Matt play in London with the US National Team in November 2015. He had a few days off during the trip so I was able to show him around the city and we did some sightseeing together.
Both of you are extremely active people. What do you do to relax?
It's sometimes hard with our active lifestyle and schedules, but we like to make dinner at home together whenever we can. We also like to put our feet up, watch TV and hang out with our dog, Gipper. We recently finished up 'Prison Break' on Netflix. But, our all-time favorite show is 'Friday Night Lights'. Right now we're trying to soak up our relaxation time before the baby comes!
Does 'Baby Besler' have a name yet and is his/her nursery soccer themed?
We have a few names we like, but we're keeping it a secret and will make a game time decision as soon as we meet HER! Our nursery isn't soccer themed, it's very neutral toned and painted a soft, baby blue ('Glass Slipper' is the color, to be exact). I've enjoyed 'nesting' the last few weeks -- Matt just learned what that term means!!
So, will she be a track star... or soccer star...
How much help do you think Matt will be when she arrives?
He's been great helping out with the nursery and I hope that carries over to changing diapers! Seeing how Matt handles being a dad is one of the things I'm most excited about. We are both looking forward to the learning process of becoming parents together.
What are you most looking forward to about motherhood?
That's a tough question because there is so much I'm looking forward to. I know I'm looking forward to the holiday season - Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can picture her being passed around and getting showered with love from all of our friends and family. Also, this is the first grandchild on both sides of the family! So, I'm guessing she'll be spoiled by her grandparents!
What are you most afraid of when it comes to motherhood?
Anything and everything a new mother is afraid of -- just the fear of the unknown. I'm anxious to get the first month under my belt so I can get the hang of things. Thank God for Google.
Favorite place to eat in KC (and any weird cravings while we're on the topic?!): Rye in Mission Farms. Surprisingly, I haven't had many weird cravings during my pregnancy... until now. I've been eating a lot of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

Favorite place to shop: lululemon, Made Well, Matt's nike.com allotment website
