Not-So-Scary Halloween Movie Guide

Written by: Allison Swan

Do you love Halloween, but hate scary movies? It's a difficult problem many of us face in October, but have no fear (see what I did there?) —you can still watch Halloween movies all season long without any horror flicks involved. Grab your fluffy blankets, stock up on your favorite candy, and use this list to inspire your October movie marathon!

The Phantom of the Opera

This movie has just the perfect amount of creepiness without going overboard and it's full of beautiful sets and costumes.

There's just a few pop-out scary moments in this one. The 90's nostalgia is worth the jump or two.

What’s Halloween without Casper? This friendly ghost peacefully haunting a mansion in Maine is fun for all ages.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Harry Potter films technically aren't Halloween movies, but what better way to get in the Halloween mood than with witches, wizards, magic, and a little pumpkin juice?!

Who you gonna call? Watch either the 80's classic or the modern remake.

This Disney Channel Original Movie will be a trip down memory lane for any millennia

The Haunted Mansion

This hilarious film starring Eddie Murphy was inspired by the iconic Disney ride, a spine-tingling tour through an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls and supernatural surprises.

Edward Scissorhands

Small kids might have a few nightmares from Tim Burton's classic, but adults can fully appreciate the tale without the scare factor.

The Addams Family

This classic is creepy, mysterious, spooky, and fun for the whole family.

Hocus Pocus

This iconic movie features Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as three witches hunting for eternal youth on Halloween.
