Halloween: Six Must-See Costume Options

Halloween: Six Must-See Costume Options

Written by: Jen Johnson

With two kids who are still heavy into trick or treating, I don’t focus too much time on my OWN Halloween costume, so I need simple options. Quite frankly, right now I think I’m just gonna grab a Pittsburg Steelers jersey and a box of tissues and do an ode to This is Us. Wait, Halloween is on a Tuesday this year—EEK! Guess we have to get home early so I can actually WATCH This is Us. But if you still need some suggestions, here are some new and interesting options.

Bottle of Sriracha

The best term I learned this year is that Sriracha is “hipster ketchup,” and apparently millennials can’t get enough of it. This is a one-piece costume, so as far as level of effort required, this is mild. Get it at Walmart.com for $24.94

Top Gun Dress

The sequel to Top Gun doesn’t come out until 2019, so jump on this trend before it’s overdone. Not only do you get the dress, but it comes with interchangeable Maverick and Goose name badges, and a pair of aviator sunglasses! Now all you need is Tom Cruise (do scientologists celebrate Halloween??). You can find it at Target.com for $30.49.

Light Up Jellyfish Costume

If you’re going to be out walking in the dark, this has the potential to look pretty flippin’ cool. You can get the LED jellyfish hat for $34.94 on amazon.com. While a jellyfish hat that lights up sounds awesome, you do apparently need some type of morph suit to wear WITH the hat, and I get the feeling jeans and a t-shirt won’t complete the look properly.

Bottle of Fireball

This one is new for 2017, and likely to be popular since stories about it were trending in early September. If you like the red hot shots, try this Burnt orange tunic with "Fireball Cinnamon Whisky" printed on the front. There are his AND hers versions of this if you wanna turn it into a couples costume. You can find this one at halloweenexpress.com for $44.99.

NFL Little Earth Pet Jersey

If you’re a Chiefs fan, this is a must-have, right? (If you’re not, they have other team jerseys too!) For $19.99 at target.com, your pup can support the team in this sweet pullover. And it’s not limited to just Halloween-you can get use out of this for months!

Baby Cappuchino Cutie Coffee Costume

Um..is this not the cutest stinkin’ costume for a latte lovin’ momma to get her baby?? A tulle skirt, plus a headpiece and ruffled collar that look like whipped cream. The snapsuit is decorated to look like a coffee cup with the headline "Cuddly Cafe." Can I borrow someone’s baby for Halloween just so I can use this? $24.99 at partycity.com.
