sheHOME: Coming Home to Find My Heart
Written by: Brooke with Stephanie Culver, KCHOMEgirl
A while back, I spent a weekend at a women's retreat. I walked away with lots of self-empowerment and life skills. But, I also walked away with a new friend. Stephanie Culver. She is so sweet, kind, easy to talk to -- I connected with her immediately! I honestly believe all of these personal qualities, along with HER story (read below) are what makes her so great as a Realtor and what sets her apart from the crowd. She takes the time to get to know you, your style and your needs. She's about 'heart'. With Stephanie, it's not about the transaction, it's about the relationship. I think that makes her pretty special. I'd like you to get to know her... so, Stephanie, introduce yourself!
Hello! I am Stephanie Culver, KCHOMEgirl -- providing an 'outside the box' Real Estate experience that comes from my HEART. I specialize in connecting hearts to homes, with compassion and care. I am here to guide you through, what sometimes can be the 'messy middle'. Helping you to move from your past home on to your new home with ease and grace. If your transition feels like it is a pendulum swinging between loss for what was and excitement for what's to come, I am the girl to help you cross that bridge.
I began my career in Real Estate when I moved my family from Texas back home to Kansas. After marrying my college crush I met at K-State, we moved away for nine years to live out his football coaching dream and start our family. We were happy in Texas and were thriving in the fast paced environment. Our dreams naturally changed and evolved as we did. We had babies and continued to grow in our careers, but we always longed to be closer to family.
Here’s the catch. As life does, we were thrown a curve ball and forced to make a change.
Chuck decided to not continue his coaching career, which brought us to the decision of leaving Texas. Once back in Kansas, we had Sunday dinners with our families, surrounding our two boys with love and fun with their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Personally, I had a sudden realization: I was a 35 year old that was living at home for the first time since high school with a husband and two young boys. To say the least, it was very humbling!
I learned so much about my parents and myself in that year and while that year had many challenging moments, my love for Real Estate grew as I watched my Dad as a Residential Real Estate Broker. I listened to him as he talked about his clients moving and felt connected to their emotions that came up within the moving process. I knew right then that our move home had changed me, and the trajectory of my life. This higher purpose was clearly unfolding right in front of me as I no longer felt connected to the career I had been in for nearly 18 years, Retail Management.
Then in that messy middle, more transition and tragedy struck. My Mom was suddenly killed in a car accident on Mother’s Day of 2008. She was 60 years young and had a lot of life left to live. My Dad was driving the car, so you can only imagine the guilt he was burdened with. All of this gave me a whole new perspective. When people tell you that sometimes the most beautiful gifts are born from loss, they aren’t kidding. In this moment of such terrible grief and pain – I felt so much peace in my heart. I felt so blessed that we were called home to be with my Mom for the last year of her life here on Earth.
I knew right then in that moment that I wanted to help others move, even when their lives were emotionally messy just as ours was at the time. Because I experienced this first hand, I have made it my mission to help others find the perfect home for where they have come from and where their lives are leading them.
Everyone has a story and traditions that make 'coming home' special to them. I want to help them find the home where they can build their dreams and start a new chapter. I am excited to grow and serve all over the Kansas City area as KCHOMEgirl, REAL ESTATE with HEART!
I look forward to connecting with all of you here at sheKClifestyle and am truly thrilled to be a part of the sheHOME community! For more details about Real Estate, you will always find me at www.kchomegirl.com and on all the social media platforms.
