sheSTYLE: Moms + Fashion
Written by: Brooke
Once upon a time, I owned a boutique. Bella B's. I LOVED everything about it. I enjoyed going to 'market'... seeing all of the upcoming trends... bringing the fresh new styles to Kansas City. I felt like I was really 'on it' with my personal style!
I closed my store after I had my daughter so I could stay at home. I missed the world of fashion, but I knew I did the right thing. I wouldn't trade those early days with my baby girl for the world!
A couple of years later, I gave birth to my son. And, I don't know what happened, but as a mom of two at that point, I felt like I had lost my 'fashion identity'. Quite honestly, it was just easier most days to throw on sweats or leggings! But, then a girl's night out or date night with my husband would pop up and I would panic a little wondering -- what the heck am I supposed to wear?!
Eventually, I found my sense of style again. I wanted to share some tips in case you're going through the same thing:
I started going through magazines. I took note of what other women were wearing and I got inspired. You know what's so cool about being a woman? We have the choice to admire each other and build each other up. So, that's what I did. I went shopping with friends and helped them find what they were looking for. After doing this a few times, I realized that I still 'had it'! I could still put fun outfits together. If I could do it for my friends, I could certainly do it for myself.
I have to tell you since starting sheKC, we have met some REALLY cool people and very talented business owners. Carina from Knitted Belle Boutique is one of them. She has an eye for fashion and really knows how to piece everything together. The outfits we are wearing in all of these photos are from her site www.KnittedBelle.com You can find so many fun tops, pants, dresses... you name it... for an amazing price. She has sizes for every body type and has custom KBB Style Boxes for any occasion.
