Pomp & Circumstance: Life is Full of Graduations
Pomp & Circumstance; Life is full of Graduations
Hi there, Moms! Am I the only one that starts to feel emotional during graduation season? This feeling has flooded my heart since before my boys were even in school and now they both are freshmen, high school and college. Pomp & Circumstance has been played at many milestone celebrations for us since our own graduations and then as our family grew, our kids pre-school, kindergarten and middle school graduations. Each one of these is a life event to be celebrated however in reality it is the transition that weighs my heart down, year after year. Out with the old, in with the new!
The thing is graduating does not only reflect their progression of education to be celebrated but rather the gradual change that happens in their lives. Very few other life events bring on so much happiness and sadness all in one. Moving can also bring up many emotions for you, as this is a big transition in your life. Whether you are an empty nester, someone that is upsizing or down sizing, relocating out of state – this sadness for once was and happiness for what’s to come can be overwhelming. I experienced this when we moved our oldest off to college. It was very bittersweet!
When preparing for these celebrations and life milestones, know that you are not alone. We are all evolving, changing, graduating and moving in someway. Our kids will remember our smiles and tears as they grow up and become adults. I often ask myself what could I have done differently? Take a minute to write a personal note to the people around you, those that may be going through similar graduations. Time will slow down for a minute and your heart will be full as you pour into others. When this stage has come to an end, they will cherish the time you took to make this special season of graduation, amazing for them!
“Your greatest contribution may not be
something you do but someone you raise.”
Hug your kiddo today that is getting ready to graduate to their next life stage and reach out to your fellow Moms with a quick note, reminding them that they are not alone on this journey…
with my whole heart,
