sheREADS: Jenny's Spring Picks
Written by: Jenny
Well, given the amount of time I've spent in the hospital over the past couple of months... I sure have had a lot of time to read! So, thought I'd share a few of my recent picks. You won't be able to put 'em down. Promise!
Perfect Strangers: Friendship, Strength, and Recovery After Boston's Worst Day by Roseann Sdoia
The Boston Marathon bombing. A terrifying, horrific day for Boston... for our nation as a whole. Roseann wasn't running that day, she was just there enjoying the festivities with her girlfriends. Truly goes to show that in one instant -- everything can change. But, even in the darkest times of life, there are blessings. Good things that come from tragedy. I don't want to give away too much in case you're not at all familiar with her story... but you won't be able to put this book down! What an inspiration.
Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
I adore her. She's cute, quirky and well, between Pitch Perfect and Trolls... ya just gotta love her! This book is easy and fun. She talks about her life growing up, how she ended up in Hollywood... and she dishes some inside scoop about other celebs!
The Secrets of My Life by Caitlyn Jenner
My heart truly goes out to Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner). I remember watching her first interview with Diane Sawyer and feeling such sadness for her. I can't imagine living most of my life NOT living my truth. And, that's just what she did. I think a lot of people have a hard time taking Bruce's transition into Caitlyn seriously because it has 'celebrity' and 'Kardashian' attached to it. And I think a lot of people have a hard time wrapping their brain around the whole thing because it's not 'the norm' (Bruce/Caitlyn totally gets that). But, this book goes into fascinating detail about Bruce's entire life leading up to Caitlyn and what life's like now. I couldn't put it down. And, like I said, my heart truly goes out to her. We all deserve inner peace and happiness.
