Health: My Life-Changing Ketogenic Diet for Ulcerative Colitis

I live with an autoimmune disease. I'm not gonna lie -- it sucks. Most of the time I do OK. But, when I flare -- the pain is excruciating. What freaks me out the most is that I never know when it's going to happen. That said, I've found myself in some very not-so-pleasant situations. I'll spare you the TMI.
Several years ago, I met my dear friend Abby Kluttz. She's a nutritionist and personal trainer -- so passionate about what she does. She loves to learn about how the body works and knows so much. I love to pick her brain.
So, a while back, I went to Abby with interest in doing a fitness show. She put me on a diet and workout plan. Mind you, when I went to her I was having major UC issues (Ulcerative Colitis) and was not taking care of myself. I had an addiction to sugar. The diet she put me on was super clean. I was determined, so I followed it! I couldn't believe how good I felt. In fact, I was COMPLETELY symptom free for almost two years.
But, I fell off the wagon.
I am not a doctor, so please do what works best for you. But, I will tell you that my doctor told me last year after a scope (good times) that I would have to be on a prescription (2500 ml, nine pills a day) indefinitely. I remember looking at him thinking -- not a chance. That's NOT happening.
Since that scope, I have had flares and other symptoms. So, six weeks ago I made a commitment to cut out sugar, no gluten and follow a ketogenic diet that Abby created for me. I also take Ketones that keep my body in ketosis at all times -- even if I have a slip up diet wise. They give me energy and curb my cravings.
Ketosis is when your body has a raised level of ketones. Ketones are simply more efficient for fuel than glucose. Ketosis can be achieved through nutritional ketosis (ketogenic diet) or exogenous ketones that get absorbed through the bloodstream. I needed both! Here's what has happened for me:
I'm symptom free (gut health has improved and my inflammation is gone)
My brain fog is gone.
My moods are more stable.
AND very rarely do I crave sugar.
I just feel 100% overall better.
