Infertility, Pregnancy Loss, Infant Loss: Lullaby of Hope
Written by: Jenny
Infertility is a subject very close to my heart -- it always will be. I've shared openly about my struggles to get (and stay) pregnant. I had six miscarriages. My two children are IVF miracles.
Along the way, I have met other women who have journeyed down a similar road. I've also met women who have gone through what I have to believe is an even more difficult circumstance -- stillbirth and infant loss.
Krystalle Wheeler founded the ministry 'Lullaby of Hope' after the loss of her daughter, Gracia, 24 weeks into her pregnancy. She found out at her 20 week ultrasound that Gracia was very sick and had an incompatible with life condition and would pass soon. At her 24 week scan, she learned that Gracia's heart had stopped and she would need to deliver her. After her loss, Lullaby of Hope was born. Her vision was to love on and meet the practical and spiritual needs of grieving mothers.
Kristin DeGrace lost her daughter, Olivia, at just 10 days old on Good Friday 2014. She was born full-term and she had no indication during pregnancy of what was to come. Kristin and her family got to spend two hours snuggling her after her birth before it was determined something was wrong. Several days later, Olivia passed away while Kristin held her in her arms.
A couple of weeks after the loss of Olivia, Kristin received a basket from Lullaby of Hope. Her first time braving leaving her home was to attend the ministry's 'Mother's Day Tea Party'. In the time she spent there, she felt God speaking to her -- leading her to use her pain to help other families facing the same heartache. Two weeks later, Krystalle approached Kristin and asked if she would join Lullaby of Hope.
Lullaby of Hope is a Kansas City based 501(c)3 non-profit ministry. The women who serve on the team are passionate about reaching women in their time of grief. Each of the women on the team have journeyed through loss and believe God allowed those grievous times to refine them. In their loss, their plans for their families were stripped from them and they had to find understanding and new life through the hope of Christ. They just want to love on women who are walking similar paths. They want women to know that they're not alone and, with God’s help, healing is possible.
Lullaby of Hope offers curated gift boxes for women journeying through infertility, pregnancy loss or infant loss. Their gift boxes are filled with specific items intended for encouragement, comfort and healing. They can be delivered locally in the Kansas City or Saint Louis area or mailed nationwide.
