Swimsuit Shopping: Why Nani Nalu on the Plaza ROCKS!
Written by: Jenny
So, I've had a rough year so far... and that's putting it mildly. If you've been following along with my blogs, you know the story. If not, here's the long story short! I went in for surgery to remove a cyst from my ovary at the end of February. The doctor ended up removing my entire ovary and in the process nicked my bowel. A colostomy, two bowel obstructions and a colostomy reversal surgery later (not to mention almost a month in total in the hospital) -- I'm ALIVE and I honestly feel better than I have in a long time. I am beyond grateful to the surgeon who put me back together and got me to this point.
That said, it's summertime and that means wearing less and definitely putting on a swimsuit. I feel like the fashion gods gave me a high-five this year by making it the year of the one-piece revival! Abdominal scars or not... the one-piece is a super cute look that is very on trend right now!
I knew once my health nightmare wrapped up, the first place I wanted to go was Nani Nalu Beachwear Boutique on the Country Club Plaza. I've been thinking about this place for a long time! My good friend, Tera, got a fabulous bikini there before her vacation to Mexico and called me immediately to tell me what an amazing shopping experience she had at Nani Nalu. To be honest, she said -- you might pay a little bit more, but you get a HIGH quality suit and you get the whole fitting experience (complete with a glass of wine if you like!)
She was 100% right.
I walked in and Jenny greeted me with a big smile! She asked my size. I told her I needed suits that would cover my surgical incisions because they aren't allowed to see the sun for a long time. With that, she started bustling around the store and filled my fitting room with lots of choices.
One reason I like boutique shopping in general is because a lot of times they'll pick out things that I normally wouldn't. And the funny thing? THOSE items are usually the things I love the most! Sure enough, that was what happened at Nani Nalu!
I tried on suit after suit and Jenny was really honest with me about what looked good, what didn't. What was flattering, what wasn't. She was extremely helpful and just really fun to work with in general with her laid-back, genuinely kind spirit.
Four swimsuits and a darling cover-up later -- here's what I got!
Here's the cool thing. Nani Nalu has styles for all shapes and sizes. If there's a particular area of your body you really want or need to cover -- they truly take that into consideration. They want you to walk away feeling confident and excited about your purchase!
Ordinarily, I'm not one to post pictures of myself in a swimsuit. But, I gotta tell ya... after feeling so crummy these past few months and now FINALLY feeling good AND finding super cute swimsuits that will keep my scars safe this summer -- I really wanted to share.
I highly recommend Nani Nalu on the Country Club Plaza. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Let's be honest -- swimsuit shopping can get a little stressful! They really know how to keep it positive and fun.
