Saturday Night Fun: WaterFire KC October 7th
Written by: Allison Swan
When the sun sets on Saturday, October 7th, music will start along the banks of Brush Creek between Broadway and Baltimore just south of the Country Club Plaza for WaterFire KC! Boats carrying lit torches will quietly move along the creek to light wood floating on the water as talented local musicians, singers, and dancers entertain the crowd in celebration of Kansas City's performing arts.
WaterFire KC was introduced in 2007 and was brought to the area by artist Barnaby Evans. Held every first Saturday in October, it has attracted thousands of people in the past years and is considered one of the most moving and dramatic expressions of public art in the U.S.
WaterFire KC is completely run by volunteers and is produced by KC Creates. It's supported by charitable contributions and the commitment of local performers. This event is free but donations are encouraged to keep the event running.
WaterFire starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until 11 p.m. Arrive early for the pre-show at 5 p.m. See the complete lineup and ways to get involved at waterfirekc.org. See you there!
