Looking for something different to do in KC? Check out Blade and Timber, Kansas City's Urban Axe Throwing Club!
Located in the West Bottoms, this unique axe throwing experience is fun and casual. Whether you're looking to pick up a new hobby or learn a new skill, they have professional instructors and an unforgettable experience.
Their experts will show you the basics of axe throwing and be with you for the first couple of rounds to help with the technique.
Before going, know that you absolutely must wear closed-toe shoes. They also encourage you to dress comfortably--they love flannel! Children ten and over are allowed to participate, but children and teens under 18 must be accompanied by at least one adult.
If you're wondering about safety, they say axe throwing is as safe as any other sport or entertainment activity of similar genre. When everyone respects the rules and safety measures, there is little chance of injury.
Their first event is on February 18th. As the world’s top athletes go for gold at the Olympics, Kansas Citians are invited to compete blade-to-blade in Blade & Timber’s Winter Axe Games. The competition will challenge expert and novice axe slingers to compete in a double-elimination tournament, with only one axe master left standing.
In-Depth Axe Training is held that same day before the competition. Join the “axperts” for exclusive, in-depth training classes to brush up your slinging skills before the big tournament. Sign up for classes or book a lane at bladeandtimber.com!
