6 Effective Anxiety Strategies: How to Reframe All of Your Negative Thoughts
Written by: Jenny
Ohhhh negative thoughts. The ones that creep in and can take an otherwise lovely day and wreck it because Anxiety takes over. Can you relate?!
I've dealt with Anxiety for nearly my entire life. I have medication I can take if I really need it (and I have taken it many times). But, I prefer natural remedies and changing my thought pattern to deal with it, if I can.
A counselor once told me -- 'tell yourself the truth' when the negative thoughts knock at the door. It works a lot of the time! But, I came across this list and I wanted to share with my fellow Anxiety sufferers.
Be the Watcher: Simply be conscious of yourself as a detached witness to your thoughts.
Name That Thought: Acknowledge that they are nothing more than thoughts -- not your reality!
Just Say No: When you catch yourself in mental looping or worry, simply say 'STOP' outloud.
Try the Rubber Band Trick: If you're stuck in negative thinking, gently pop it on your wrist.
Know Your Triggers: Pay attention to common worries and anxieties you brood about.
Distract Yourself: Do something that will occupy your mind so there's no room for the negative thoughts.
These little tricks have helped me a lot -- so give 'em a try!
