How to Get the Most out of Spotify and Apple Music
Written by: Allison Swan
Whether you're team Apple Music or Spotify, there's plenty of lesser-known features to enhance your experience. Use these hacks and shuffle no more.
Improve the quality on Apple Music
To prevent you from using up too much data, Apple streams music at a lower quality. There's an option to turn on High Quality Streaming if you want to listen to your songs at the highest quality, with or without Wi-Fi--just go to your settings and select Mobile Data to turn it on.
Wake up with Apple Music
Tired of your traditional alarm clock? Wake up to your favorite music instead! Download your song under My Music, open the Clock app, add a new alarm, then select Sound and tap Pick a Song.
Crossfade on Spotify
Smoothly transition all your songs by going into your library, tap settings, select playback, scroll down to Crossfade, and select the desired crossfade length. If you don’t want your songs to mix into each other but also don’t want any gaps between songs, simply switch Gapless on.
Collaborate on a Spotify playlist
No more arguing over what music to play in the car! Create a road trip playlist with your friends so everyone has the ability to add and delete songs at will.
Create a Shazam playlist
Shazam, the song-recognizing app, can connect to your Spotify account--all you have to do is open Shazam, hit My Shazam in the upper left-hand corner, and hit Connect next to Apple Music or Spotify to create a playlist of your favorite songs.
