sheEATS: Homemade Apple Cinnamon Granola
Written by: Allison Swan
Take a break from butter, sugar, and extra additives and make this wholesome, vegan, guilt-free apple cinnamon granola! Homemade granola is much easier to make than you'd think, and it takes just 30 minutes. Not only is it cheaper than store-bought, but it's much healthier for you, too. Here's what you'll need:
2 and 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
5 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup grade A maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup pecans or almonds, chopped (optional)
Step 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Step 2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Step 3. Combine oats, cinnamon, and pecans in a large bowl.
Step 4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together applesauce, maple syrup, and salt. Pour wet mixture over oat mixture and stir until all oats are coated.
Step 5. Pour mixture over prepared baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through.
If you like your granola extra crunchy, bake it longer. Cool uncovered for about 30 minutes and enjoy!
